How great would it be to enjoy your Christmas without thinking about what to eat, how much to buy, when will the shops be open, will I run out of sprouts? You will sample some of the best local food Yorkshire has to offer. We have a clear ethos with our food; simple goodness from fresh ingredients that are sourced in-season, properly cooked, presented and put on your table with a minimum of food miles – after all, Yorkshire is the larder of England!
So if you’re dreaming of a traditional, charmed Christmas with cosy surroundings and open log fires then you don’t need to look any further…
Christmas Eve …
Arrive and Relax
After settling into your room relax and unwind with a cream tea in The Bothy, where you’ll be warmed by the roaring fire, there are sofas to curl up on, lots of magazines, newspapers and an honestly bar.
Champagne and Canapés in the cosy bar and snug will get the evening off to a flying start before dinner is served in the restaurant.
After dinner either head to midnight mass by candlelight at St Peter and St Pauls Church rounding off the night with hot chocolate and Yorkshire Parkin in front of the fire or just enjoy a night-cap before bed … and you might even just hear the sound of distant sleigh bells!
Christmas Day …
With all the trimmings
On Christmas Day choose between a lie-in with continental breakfast in bed or a leisurely traditional Ginger Pig ‘Yorkshire Breakfast’ in the restaurant. Spend the day as you like. If you’re feeling energetic why not take a stroll through picturesque Pickering or just relax in The Bothy and open your presents, either way just soak up the Christmas atmosphere and work up an appetite for your mouth watering Christmas lunch.
In the evening we will serve a really tasty buffet supper then relax and enjoy the rest of Christmas Day in the bar and snug, join our festive quiz in The Bothy or curl up in your room with The Royle Family on TV perhaps.
Boxing Day …
Put your feet up … or not!
We are perfectly located on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors so why not wrap up warm and blow those cobwebs away. We can point you in the direction of the Moors to enjoy some magnificent scenery. Maybe to the coast for a bracing walk on the beach at Sandsend or explore the cobbled streets of Whitby but perhaps the local hunt meet is the most traditional spectacle. Alternatively, why not cosy up in The Bothy with a book and a good bottle of wine.
The day is rounded off by a relaxed dinner in the restaurant.
Friday 27th December
All good things must come to an end but before it does, enjoy a leisurely breakfast hopefully feeling refreshed, relaxed and with happy memories of The White Swan Inn.
